Did You Know?

Washington State is the state with the most waterfalls…over 3,000 in fact!
 
With its lush forests, cascading rivers, and majestic mountains, our state is home to an abundance of stunning waterfalls, each offering a unique and memorable experience for hikers of all ages. While there are countless waterfalls scattered throughout Washington, here are a few recommendations with easy to moderate hikes.

Before you head out on any of these hikes, check the website links for current trail conditions, if dogs are allowed, pass requirements, and road closures/good driving directions.
 
1. Tumwater Falls Loop - (1 mile-Easy) Olympia Tumwater Falls Park No Pass Required, Kid & Dog Friendly
2. Staircase Rapids Loop - (2 miles-moderate) Lake Cushman, Olympic National Park, pass required, kid-friendly, no pets. Follow River to the suspension bridge, cross the river, and complete the loop back to the Ranger Station.
3. Hamma Hamma Falls - (Road Access-Easy) Lilliwaup Olympic National Forest, pass required, kid-friendly. The bridge spans two-tiered falls (80’).
4. Murhut Falls - (1.6 miles Round-trip- Easy) Duckabush River Valley Olympic National Forest, no pass required, kid/dog friendly. Well-built trail to 130’ two-tiered waterfall.
5. Rocky Brook Falls (1/4mile-Easy) Brinnon, Private, no pass, kid/dog friendly. Horsetail waterfall crashes 200’ from hanging valley. In the summer, the cascade pool is a popular swimming hole.
6. Dickerson Creek Waterfall (2.3-mile loop, Easy-Moderate) Located at Ueland Tree Farm in Bremerton, a convenient escape into nature with its serene beauty and easy accessibility. This popular trail offers multiple paths; there are some steep inclines and muddy areas.
7. Little Mashel Falls in Eatonville (5 miles round trip, Moderate): Three waterfalls with multiple viewing areas, and you can walk behind/underneath one! The tallest waterfall plunges over 90 feet!
8. Twin Falls, Snoqualmie Pass (2.4 miles round trip, Moderate) Trio of waterfalls just off I-90 with a short trail. Family-friendly.
9. Wallace Falls, North Cascades (5.6 miles round trip, moderate) Breathtaking views of the Wallace River and the surrounding falls on this popular trail.
10. Boulder River, North Cascades (8.6 miles round trip, Moderate) Nice year-round hike. This is a relatively easy, popular hike off the Mountain Loop Highway. Great picnic spot!
11. Marymere Falls, Olympic Peninsula (1.8 miles round trip, easy-moderate) Near the shores of Lake Crescent, you will hike through old-growth, moss-laden forest and have 2 viewpoint options which are both great!
12. Bridal Veil Falls, North Cascades (4 miles round trip, Moderate) Waterfall flows out of Lake Serene. There are steps paralleling the falls to help you enjoy this nature show!
13. Carter Falls, Mount Rainier National Park (2.8 miles round trip, East-Moderate) Cougar Rock to Carter Falls is a family-friendly, popular hike with amazing mountain/forest/river views, including the 53-foot drop waterfall.
14. Myrtle Falls, Mount Rainier National Park (.8 miles round trip, Easy) This popular 60-foot waterfall has a braided cascade with Mount Rainier towering in the background.
15. Franklin Falls, Snoqualmie Pass (2 miles round trip, Easy) Great easy hike with a reward at the end!
